During the opening moments of a joint press conference for President Nicolas Sarkozy and Senator Barack Obama at the Élysée Palace, Christiane Amanpour’s arrogant, elitist question regarding ’scum’ was offensive.
How positively Old Europe of Amanpour.

Love Sarko, hate Burka Lady (and her husband Liberace).
And CNN is helping (or creating) that new Black consciousness. How enlightened they are. Their programing is stuck in a time warp. Their warped liberal brains have no real self awareness. But you see it ML. You see the black hole of history.
Cheers
I was working a few too many hours last week to pay close attention to the Grand Tour details so I am shocked, shocked I tell you, to see the absolute audacity of this woman. Not only is Amanpour trapped in time like an insect in amber, but her hypocrisy is unconscionable.
Much like Matt Feeney’s review of La Haine (Hate), the French film that seemed to predict the French Riots to which Amanpour refers, her reporting “suffers, finally, from the same weakness that afflicts a lot of supposedly realist film. In its tight, ground-level focus, it’s all trees and no forest. Instead of social analysis, you get sentimentality, a one-sided empathy.”
Sarkozy, while undoubtedly responsible for enforcing law and order in the banlieues, for which France should be eternally grateful, can hardly be held responsible for years of oppressive Socialist economic policies coupled with bizarre immigration policies (see “Eurabia”, by Bat Ye’or) which restricted the employment opportunities of the so-called “disaffected youth” (in other words: violent gangs) – but not their parents (a phenomenon we see in Britain and Europe in general). But let’s be frank (no pun intended of course), France also embraces an elitist culture which marginalizes anyone who is “other” than purely French with the same tenacity as Amanpour claims is demonstrated to “blacks” alone. I notice how she conflates anyone of color now as “black” without referencing anyone as “Muslim”. In 2006, Western Resistance wrote “We also reported on the subsequent phenomenon of the mainly black Muslim gang called the Barbarians, led by Youssef Fofana, originally from the Cote d’Ivoire. This gang kidnapped a 23 year old Jewish man, Ilan Halimi, and subjected him to torture. The gang had specifically wanted to target Jewish victims. Ilan’s naked body was found in Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois in Essonne, Ile de France, on February 13 (2005). Ilan was tied to a tree. He had been cut with knives, burned with cigarettes, acid had been poured on him, and he had been set on fire. He died on his way to hospital.”
As a descendant of a French Jewish woman who was interned in a French Nazi concentation camp, I take particular exception to Amanpour’s one-sided, biased defiance of Sarkozy. For starters, in my family, unlike many in the modern world, we’ve actually moved on. We actually recognize that the world, with all of its flaws, is a much better one thanks to its liberation by America than that of the Nazis with whom Amanpour and her ilk continue to conflate any and all conservatives when in fact it is the so-called “downtrodden” who resemble the Nazis the most. Quelle domage, Christine. Or perhaps I should say quelle fromage, as in “what a stink”.
