It is time to stop pretending the people of Darfur do not exist. This Genocide is happening on our watch. It is time to stop the hemorrhagic bleeding. Innocent lives are being taken by the Janjaweed – better known as Islamic Extremists -and the world is standing by debating the semantics.

There are many organizations with in-depth info and advice for the best place to start your contribution. Look to Darfur Awareness and the Save Darfur folks who have done such amazing work. Then go out and buy Don Cheadle’s new book, Not on Our Watch: The Mission to End Genocide in Darfur and Beyond.

Good people of every political persuasion agree we must do something to prevent the Genocide from continuing. I believe we must stop lying to ourselves about the source of the Genocide. Islamic Extremists are the Janjaweed – backed by a corrupt Islamic lunatics in Khartoum. The Chinese Government is sitting idly as their oil pipeline chugs along uninterrupted. With the 2008 Olympics looming… and scheduled for Beijing, it is important we all take a breath here. The Olympics are being dubbed the “Genocide Olympics” – and it is an accurate statement.

Who is trading blood for oil? China. They built the pipeline in Sudan. They get the oil. The Chinese government turns a blind eye to the murder, rape, and displacement of hundreds of thousands of innocent people by Islamic Extremists. But they get the oil… and their Olympics, a financial windfall for their country.

Don’t let politics get in the way of reality. Islamic Extremists are the WMD. No matter where they are, no matter how the terror manifests itself… it is the truth. There are things worse than death. Ask a woman who has been raped, mutilated, and tortured by a Janjaweed if she believes the “threat” has been over-hyped. When whole families are dead, and there is no one left to remember them but US… we have a duty to restore humanity and decency.
