From the New York Times: Bhutto Assassinated in Attack on Rally

UPDATED: Detention Order Lifted For Pakistan’s Bhutto

The news from Pakistan is not rosy. I wonder, is there someone with an idea of the truth? The fundamentals behind this sudden change in Pakistan? Is Musharraf ever going to step down as head of the Army? Will Constitutional law be restored? When?

The breaking news is that opposition leader, and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has been placed under house arrest by Musharraf’s police folks – under the auspices of protecting her from “threats” made on the demonstration she planned to lead, calling for Musharraf to restore Constitutional law, resign his post as head of the Army, and allow the February elections to proceed.

I’ll update and analyze as conditions change. Some links to the story are below.
