Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated today, just as she left a rally in Rawalpindi. There are conflicting reports about whether she was shot to death, or died as a result of wounds she received in the suicide blast that killed approximately 20 of her fellow countrymen.
Bhutto was running as a challenger to Pervez Musharraf. The election is scheduled for January 8, 2008. Musharraf has declared there will be three days of mourning. No word if the election will be rescheduled.
I am collecting the statements of world leaders, and tapping into my sources for the latest information. The Media Lizzy Show will focus entirely on the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the geopolitical indicators, and what it means for the US presidential primaries.
