The Politico broke a story today… it is, without a doubt, my favorite story since the last time we heard from the American Issues Project.  JMart notes that AIP:

“…will go up on Friday with a TV spot that marks the dollars spent with the passage of time:

Suppose you spent $1 million every single day starting from the day Jesus was born — and kept spending through today,” says the announcer as an image of the three wise men flashes on the screen. “A million dollars a day for more than 2,000 years. You would still have spent less money than Congress just did.”

Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Finally.  The Right is at bat, tobacco in cheek, and it’s game time.  Once the ad goes live – I will post it here.

The Stimulus bill – now being dubbed a “Recovery” bill is gargantuan.  What appalls me most is that it does so little in the way of “stimulus.”  Most of the promises made will be kept in 2010, 2011, and 2012.  You know… about the time Obama wants to say he “saved” a few million jobs so he can stand for re-election.

Frankly, much of this spending could have been stuffed into the Constitutionally-mandated 14 Appropriations bills.  Sure, it would have had more scrutiny – but it’s not like Speaker Pelosi gives a damn what the American people think.  Heck, she’s even happy to rewrite 2000 years of Catholic doctrine.  (Thank you Pope Benedict for setting her straight)

Times are tough for Republicans, Conservatives, and Independents that are among the 58 million Americans that did not vote for Barack Obama.  Having been ininside the Beltway during the last time in the desert (1993-2001) – I remember how many felt silenced, ignored, and downright angry at the Clinton Administration.

Look at it this way… Obama may well turn out to be his own Les Aspin.  And GOP Whip Eric Cantor may just be the next Newt Gingrich.  As in Speaker.
